JTBelieve – School Engagement

In 2016, Johnathan sent an uplifting message to the students in Aurukun after leading his side to victory in game one of the State of Origin.  His message to the students was “I just want you to believe in yourselves and keep turning up to school”.

JTBelieve is a program designed to engage Year 5 – 12 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their families in education. Participants are mentored, and the delivered workshops are facilitated by Ambassadors who have been identified and invited by Johnathan Thurston.

JT Academy Ambassadors act as role models and mentors to support and encourage the participants and their families to build their aspirations and achieve their goals.  The JT Academy provides participants with local and community-focused delivery to support their success at school and outside the school gates in developing their self-belief and resilience.

The program delivers in-school mentoring and support from the JT Academy; regular presentations on motivation, behavior, self-belief, resilience culture, relationships, lifestyle, and careers.
