Wakai Waian Healing is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Psychology and Counselling organisation specialising in providing Social and Emotional Wellbeing/Mental Health type services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families and communities.   In the last four years, Wakai Waian Healing has transformed into a multisite company with offices in Rockhampton, Cairns and Thursday Island delivering:Psychological and Counselling servicesOrganisation/staff development,Organisation/staff self-careCommunity capacity and safety development initiatives.We are currently recruiting for another Psychologist (fixed term of 12 months based on existing funding grants, or contract arrangements could be negotiated for individual or combination of sites) to join our team and service the following sites:Rockhampton (1 day per week)Palm Island (3 days per fortnight)Gladstone (1 day per fortnight)Woorabinda (1 day per fortnight)Biloela (1 day per fortnight)Cape York (2 days per fortnight)Nambour (1 day per fortnight)Charleville (4 days per month)The above sites could be combined to extend working time.Specific Requirements: Willing and able to travel and fly to selected sites above; Hold an open C Class driver's license; Willing to register for Medicare Billing; Must be fully registered with AHPRA with nil work restrictions; and Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait IslanderSuccessful applicants are expected to possess the following:Ability to working closely and collaboratively in partnership with a range of stakeholders including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, people with lived experience, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services, government and non-government agencies and mainstream services; Knowledge of the complex causes of poor mental health/social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities; Knowledge and understanding of the local Aboriginal community and the health needs and priorities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders; Knowledge of key state/territory and federal policies and resources on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mental health/ social and emotional wellbeing; Ability to develop and implement innovative solutions that are culturally sensitive; Knowledge of best practice in the delivery of culturally competent suicide prevention responses, health programs and community needs;Ability to independently and within a team to develop and implement innovative solutions towards the promotion of the MH/SEWB of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people that are culturally sensitive;Ability to communicate well (written and verbal) with diverse target groups and work with diverse stakeholders; Ability to manage projects/ multiple tasks and meet deadlines; Ability to deliver healing focused services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples;Ability to interact with diverse community activities/events i.e., NAIDOC Week and Be willing to explore local culture and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples;Ability to undertake effective evaluation activities, specific program development, reporting and compliance functions, stakeholder engagement, and performance management as required;Knowledge of or ability to acquire knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mental Health Policy, Mental Health Legislation, Queensland Mental Health Policy and an understanding of the interaction between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the criminal justice systems and Child Safety System; andAbility to actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety, and ethical behaviour. We encourage all applicants to view our website and familiarise themselves with the services Wakai Waian Healing provides together with our working philosophies.If you are interested in this position, please click the 'APPLY' button below and send us a copy of your Cover Letter and CV.
